BMW 7 series voted car with the Most Advanced Technology in Japan 2002-2003
At this year's Car Of The Year (COTY) award in Japan on Nov. 13th, the BMW 7 series was voted car with Most Advanced technology among 49 entries by 18 domestic and foreign automobile manufacturers. This year for the first time Japanese and imported cars were judged together.
Main criteria for choosing the 7 series as stated by the Japanese jurors were the engine technology VALVETRONIC and the driver interface i-drive. Overall the 7 series combines extraordinary driving performance with fuel efficiency and an innovative operating concept for the members of the selection committee.
COTY is the most prestigious automobile award in Japan for already 23 years. An executive committee of thirty representatives from different media and publishing companies appoints 59 jurors. Among them are race/rally drivers, motor journalists, lifestyle journalists and public figures with interests in cars.
Other categories include the overall Car of the Year award, Most Fun and Best Value. The "Car Of The Year" award and Most Fun award were won by Japanese automobiles. The Best Value car could not be selected since none of the entries received the necessary one third of all votes.
The result of the 7 series being decided almost unanimously the car with the Most Advanced Technology stresses once more the positive public reception the BMW 7 series has received since its launch in Japan in March.
